Isabel provides each user with a class 3 commercial certificate. Other services and programs might accept your Isabel certificate as a means of identification.

Accessing eGovernment applications using an Isabel certificate is presently only possible on the Microsoft Windows platform with Edge and Chrome.

Isabel does not own these services and does not decide which operating systems, browsers or cards are supported, or which content is accessible to you. Please contact the provider of the application or website.

 

As from 31/01/2023, below eGovernement applications have descided to stop supporting 3rd party certificates:

If you can't login to a third party website with your Isabel certificate. In some cases you receive the message that your commercial certificate could not be verified.
  1. Visit the Isabel 6 download zone to check if you have necessary components to work with Isabel 6.
  2. Login to Isabel
  3. Do you see your user ID and logout button at the top right ?
  • Yes
    • You succesfully used your certificate to log in. The problem is on the website of the application you are connecting to. Please contact the corresponding service provider.
  • No
    • Clear the cache of your browser. Try again. Still not ok? Go to next step.
    • Open the Isabel Control Panel: Start > Isabel Services > Isabel 6 Control Panel.
    • Double-click Install your certificate
    • Did the certificate install correctly ?
    • Yes
      • Login to Isabel
      • Do you see your user ID and logout button at the top right ?

      • Yes
      • No
        • Contact customer care.
    • No
      • Contact customer care.

Exporting your Isabel certificate

Some applications might require you to upload your certificate. These steps describe how to obtain the certificate on your disk.

  • In the Windows Control Panel select Internet Options from the Tools menu (Alt-x or the gear icon in the upper right corner).
  • Open the tab Content and click the button Certificates
  • In the tab Personal, select the certificate you want to export, and click the Export... button. This will start the Certificate Export Wizard.
  • Use these options 
    • "No, do not export the private key" > Next *
    • "Base-64 encoded X.509" > Next
    • Click the Browse... button and specify a file name and a location > Next
    • Click Finish

* It is not possbile to export the private key from your Isabel Smart Card.

Errors when signing PDF documents on third party websites

Install your latest certificate:

  1. Remove your Isabel certificates:
    • From the windows Start Menu, search for certmgr.msc and run this program as administrator.
    • Under Personal > Certificates, delete the Isabel certificate(s) matching your card.
  2. Reinstall your Isabel certificate:
    • Open the Isabel Control Panel via Start > Isabel Services > Isabel 6 Control Panel.
    • Double-click on 'Install your Certificate'.

Make sure you installed the latest version of the Isabel Security Components

Exclusive use of your Isabel certificate for external services.

If you wish to stop use ebanking, but want to keep your Isabel certificate to access external services, you can ask al your banks to remove your user ID from their ebanking section.

When no bank connections are left, charges concerning ebanking modules for this user ID will no longer be billed.
