How to download and install Isabel Offline Reporting and use it for the first time

Prerequisites:

Isabel Offline Reporting is available exclusively for the Microsoft Windows platform.

Steps:

1. Downloading Isabel Offline Reporting

Note: before installing Isabel Offline Reporting (IOR) it is adviced to install the Isabel Security Components first.

  1. Download the Isabel Offline Reporting. You can find it in the download area of the Isabel website.

  2. Choose Save when you are requested to run, save or cancel your download.

  3. Choose Open once the download has finished.

2. Installation process

  1. Click the Next button to continue in the Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard … screen.



  2. Select I accept the terms in the licence agreement in the Licence Agreement screen.



  3. Click the Next button in the Destination Folder for product and database screen to install the Data files in:

    1. The default User based path folder only accessible to the current user.
    2. The Specified path folder accessible to all users on your PC (folder can be changed).



  4. Click the Install button to start the installation in the Ready to Install the Program screen.



    The installation will now be executed and you will be able to follow the progress on the screen.

  5. Click the Finish button in the InstallShield Wizard Completed screen to close the wizard. Isabel Offline Reporting will then be launched, unless you uncheck this option in the InstallShield Wizard Completed screen.

You can start Isabel Offline reporting from Start > All programs > Isabel Services > Isabel Offline Reporting.

If you are launching Isabel Offline Reporting for the first time, the Welcome wizard for loading the IBS5 account information will be started. In this wizard select the third option "I don't have Isabel Business Suite 5.0" and click on the Close button. Now you can start importing the Isabel 6 account information by synchronizing with Isabel 6. 

4. How do you get the Isabel Reporting database on another computer?

Will my data in Isabel Offline Reporting be available if I install Isabel Offline Reporting on another computer?

No. The data in Isabel Offline Reporting is stored locally on your computer. You can install Isabel Offline Reporting and use it on multiple computers but the data will not be the same.

If you are installing Isabel Offline Reporting on another computer you can backup the data from another computer and restore it. This way you have the history that is currently in Isabel Offline Reporting from which the backup came.

Error messages

Startup Errors

The internal database of Isabel Offline Reporting is corrupt

Run Isabel Offline Reporting as administrator.

To do this, right-click on the app 'Isabel Offline Reporting' from your start menu or desktop and select 'run as administrator'.

If this works, this indicates that your normal windows user rights are not sufficient to run Isabel Offline Reporting. Please contact your IT support to correct these limitations in the security or policy configurations.

You have used Isabel Offline Reporting before
As the Offline Reporting data are stored locally on your computer, it is your responsability to make regular backups. To prevent data loss, creating a backup file at least every 3 months is advised. See "How to create a backup of your IOR database"


Please contact your system administrator if you need help executing following steps:

You have a backup file (.iorbackup) < 3 months

  1. Open the folder \Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Isabel Services\
  2. Rename the folder Offline Reporting to Offline Reporting OLD
  3. Uninstall Isabel Offline Reporting.
  4. Install Isabel Offline Reporting
  5. Start Isabel Offline Reporting
  6. go to Preferences -> Support -> Restore data. Select the backup file you wish to restore.
  7. Synchronise with Isabel.

You have a backup file (.iorbackup) > 3 months

  1. Open the folder \Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Isabel Services\
  2. Rename the folder Offline Reporting to Offline Reporting OLD
  3. Uninstall Isabel Offline Reporting.
  4. Install Isabel Offline Reporting
  5. Start Isabel Offline Reporting
  6. go to Preferences -> Support -> Restore data. Select the backup file you wish to restore.
  7. Verify the most recent book date in the Account Balances overview.
  8. go to Preferences -> Settings -> Reimport Isabel 6 data to reimport the missing period from Isabel 6.

You don't have a backup file.

  1. Open the folder \Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Isabel Services\
  2. Rename the folder Offline Reporting to Offline Reporting OLD
  3. Uninstall Isabel Offline Reporting.
  4. Install Isabel Offline Reporting.
  5. Start Isabel Offline Reporting, make sure the error message is gone.
  6. Close Isabel Offline Reporting.
  7. Copy the folder Offline Reporting OLD\db into the folder Offline Reporting
  8. Start Isabel Offline Reporting
The internal database used by Isabel Offline Reporting is already in use

It's possible that the previous run of Isabel Offline Reporting didn't close down properly and therefore the user is unable to launch a new instance. To quit the previous instance one should select the IsabelReporting.exe process in the Windows Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) and end that process. It is also advised to quit all AcroRd32.exe processes.

You can also restart your computer.

Note: If you are working in a network environment and the database is used by multiple users, make sure only 1 user is using Isabel Offline Reporting at any one time. Simultaneous access by multiple users is not supported and will cause issues.

Updating Isabel Offline Reporting has encountered a problem.
An internal error occured during updating Isabel Offline Reporting.

You can continue using Isabel Offline Reporting by confirming this message.

Isabel Offline Reporting unexpectedly closes at startup

Please execute the same solution as for "The internal database used by Isabel Offline Reporting is already in use". (supra)

If the issue persists, the Isabel 6 Security Components might not be installed or corrupted, please install the latest version of the Isabel 6 Security Components.

Error when changing language: "The page currently being displayed contains invalid values"

  1. Make sure Isabel Offline Reporting is closed.

  2. Press . In the Run prompt, type %APPDATA%\Isabel Services\Offline Reporting\configuration\ and press Enter.

  3. Look for the file config.ini file in the map that opened up, rightclick it and click on Edit.
    • If Windows requests how you want to open it, use notepad.

  4. Look for the parameters osgi.nl and lang.nl, change their values after the = character (without spaces) to the desired language:
    • nl_BE for Dutch
    • fr_BE for French
    • en_US for English
    • de_DE for German


  5. Save the file, you should now be able to change the language once you start Isabel Offline Reporting.

  6. If you are still receiving the same error message, try reinstalling Isabel Offline Reporting. Follow the steps in the instruction box of 'An error message appears when you click Synchronize' - 'You were not invited to select your certificate and enter your PIN' for the correct procedure, and follow steps 1-3.

Synchronization Errors

An error message appears when you click Synchronize.
You were invited to select your certificate and enter your PIN
  1. Please verify if your Internet connection is active.
  2. If the Internet connection is active, open the log file "ior.logof the Isabel Offline Reporting Tool. You can find that logfile through Preferences > Support > Export log (where you can chose to save the log).
  3. Save and open the logfile in eg. Notepad.
  4. The Isabel 6 services are unavailable when the log file contains a line with the following text:
    [ERROR] CisFacadeServiceImpl                     - java.lang.Exception: http error 500
  5. Please try to synchronize your Isabel 6 data later.
You were not invited to select your certificate and enter your PIN

When you are confronted with this issue, the install probably became corrupted and now a clean reinstall needs to be done. This can also be related to a lack of certain user rights, if you are unable to execute the following reinstall instructions, this might be an indication of that. If that is the case, go to step 4 and try those instructions.

!!!! The following instructions mean a complete reinstall, it is strongly advised to make a backup of your database !!!!!

Please follow the instructions in the accordion box 'How to create a backup of your IOR database'. Once you have finished these instructions, please return to this accordion box!

  1. Uninstall both Isabel Offline Reporting AND the Isabel security components using the Microsoft Fixit tool.
  2. Righclick on the following link to the Cleanup file and choose Save link as.
    • In the Save As window, choose Desktop as location.
    • In the box File Name: replace .txt  by .cmd  at the end of the filename.
    • Next in the 'Save as' box choose All Files (*.*)
    • Click save.
    • Go to your desktop and execute the file. Once done, a number of folders will be opened, please check if they are all empty. Delete remaining files if necessary.
  3. Reinstall the latest Isabel Security Components and Isabel Offline Reporting.
  4. If the issue is not resolved verify if you have sufficient user rights to execute this command. To execute a command press Windowskey + R > type cmd > confirm with OK > copy the following line according to your Windows version and rightclick in the cmd window to paste the copied line.
    • Any Windows 32 bit version: reg query HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Isabel
    • Any Windows 64 bit version: reg query HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Isabel
    If you are confronted with an error (e.g. Access is denied) please ask your IT or system administrator to provide sufficient user rights to execute this command.
  5. If the issue does not reoccur when you started IOR, close the application, you can now restore the backup you've created, please return to the accordion box on how to make a backup and follow the option you have followed before.

This user access is controlled by the user policy DisableRegistryTools. Your IT or system administrator can find this in [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System].

Account information present in Isabel is not present in Isabel Offline Reporting
  • Using the Synchronize button, you can update your account information of the last 4 months.
  • Isabel Offline Reporting remembers the date for the last update and will not automatically synchronize data for the same time period a second time.

To resynchronize data for the same period or import account information older than 4 months, open Preferences > Settings > Re-import Isabel 6 data, instead of the synchronize button. Select the required period and click Import.

Synchronizing Isabel Offline Reporting with a second user of your Isabel 6 subscription fails.

You have succesfully synchronized the data of your Isabel 6 subscription in the Isabel Offline Reporting Tool with one of the users of your Isabel 6 subscription. When you try to synchronize with another user of your Isabel 6 subscription, the data is not loaded in the Isabel Offline Reporting Tool. When clicking on the button Synchronize, the tool will check when the last synchronisation took place. When clicking the Synchronize button twice in the same day, the tool will not synchronize a second time.

Resolution:

To import data for the same period into Isabel Offline Reporting multiple times, open Preferences > Settings > Re-import Isabel 6 data. Select the required period and click Import.

Warning : importing data from multiple users could lead to double data.

 

When you synchronize your Account information for the first time in the Isabel Offline Reporting Tool, only the three last months are imported.
  • The maximum interval for synchronization is set to 4 months.
  • If you want to synchronize older data, go to "Preferences", click on Re-import Isabel 6 data and fill in the desired data.

Reporting Errors

When you create a report that contains different currencies in the Isabel Offline Reporting Tool, all the amounts are summed to a total amount

When creating flexible reports containing different currencies, you need to activate grouping for the "Transaction currency" field.

  • In "Field Selection": Select the field "Transaction currency".
  • In "Layout": Select the options "Group" and "Total" next to "Transaction currency".

Backup and restore Isabel Offline Reporting

When migrating Isabel Offline Reporting to another computer users can follow the intructions below. After completing these steps the user will be able to consult all account information and all saved filters in the reports on another computer.

  This does not include the creating reports themselfs. Users will have to manually copy the created reports in order to keep them.

Isabel Offline Reporting is currently installed and working
  1. Start Isabel Offline Reporting on the computer where the data is available.
  2. Go to Preferences -> Support -> Backup data. You will be prompted to save your backup that can be tranferred to the new computer.
  3. On the new computer go to Preferences -> Support -> Restore data. You will be prompted to open the saved backup file from step 2.

 Existing data in Isabel Offline Reporting will be removed after completing step 3.

Isabel Offline Reporting is currently installed on a computer that is not working

Please consult your IT or system administrator for help with these steps.

  1. Isabel Offline Reporting stores it's data in the profile folder from the user (%appdata%\Isabel Services\Offline Reporting\). If you have access to the recovered data the full path will be: x:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Isabel Services\Offline Reporting\
    (here, x is the assigned drive letter).
  2. In the Offline Reporting folder you can find the folder "db". Backup this entire folder to save your data.
  3. Install Isabel Offline Reporting on your new computer. During this installation you have the option to store the data on an alternatieve location. Please write this location down if you choose this option.
  4. Start Isabel Offline Reporting for the first time and close it.
  5. Locate the same db folder on your new computer and replace it with the recovered one from the old computer.

If you are unable to locate the db folder you can search the entire drive for the file "db.lck" (include hidden files and folders in your search). This is a file that is located in the db folder of Offline Reporting. Once found you can continue with next step of the process.
