Which wizard for which payment?
Which wizard for which payment?

Several possibilities for making payments are available under the Transactions tab.

Payment: this is used for European payments with IBAN and BIC code accounts. Only for transfers in euros within the Single Euro Payments Area that meet the following conditions:

  • The currency must be EUR.
  • The counterparty account number must be an IBAN number (a structured International Bank Account Number). Example of a Belgian IBAN account number: BE68 5390 0754 7034. The first two letters indicate the country code: BE, the next two numbers indicate the control digit and the remainder represents the former Belgian account number, in four-number groups. To know more about IBAN, visit the Belgian SEPA website in French.
  • The BIC code (Bank Identifier Code, also called SWIFT code) is also mandatory. To know more about BIC codes, visit the Belgian SEPA website in French.
  • The transfer must be carried out within the SEPA area (Single Euro Payments Area). SEPA includes the Member States of the European Union, plus some other countries. You can find a complete list of the SEPA countries on the Belgian SEPA website in French.
  • The payment order may contain no other instruction; the cost type is shared (SHA).
Example: the Belgian company, Futurotex, makes a payment of EUR 5,235 from its Belgian account in favour of a French supplier that has informed it of its BIC code and IBAN account number.

International Payment: this versatile wizard can be used for all non-SEPA transfers, but is especially intended for international transfers in euros and in currencies other than the euro. The name, Payment wizard, will be subsequently changed in the next update of Isabel 6 and will, for reasons of clarity, become International payment. Remark: companies that create domestic payments in currencies other than the euro should as well use the Payment wizard.

Example: the Belgian company, Futurotex, pays an invoice of GBP 4,325 from its Belgian account to its English supplier, United Sales, and uses the Payment wizard. With certain conditions, Futurotex can benefit from an advantageous tariff for international transfers (in particular by using the IBAN account and the BIC code). Ask for information from your bank.

Domestic payment: for the majority of Isabel 6 users, this is the most used assistant for payments in euros (non-SEPA) in Belgium. Domestic payments in currencies other than the euro should be executed by means of the Payment wizard.

Example: the Belgian company, Futurotex, wants to make a payment in euros from its Belgian account in favour of its supplier, ABC Forwarding, in Ghent. To do so, it can use the Domestic payment wizard.

Direct debit: if you have your invoices paid by direct debit, you can create direct debit orders for your debtors and send them to the bank for execution.

Example: the Moderna School of Brussels uses Direct debit to improve the efficiency of getting its expense notes paid.

Group of domestic payments: if you create a lot of standard payment orders (national Belgian payments) from the same ordering account and with the same type of payments for many counterparties.

Example: the Belgian company, Futurotex, pays the wages of its personnel via a monthly grouped payment.

Remark: Clients of BNP Paribas Fortis Bank will see 3 extra bank specific wizards in the left menu. For more information about these wizards, please contact BNP Paribas Fortis Bank.
